Double Homicide in Huntsville Wednesday Night

Published on July 25, 2013 by Larry Crippen

Walker County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call last night on Williams Road off Highway 30 to find a double homicide. An approximately 60-year-old black woman and her two-year-old grandson were found dead at the residence.

Wednesday night, the identities of the victims were being withheld pending notification of family members. The woman found dead at the scene was said to be an active church member of a nearby Baptist congregation.

The child’s grandfather, who is the husband of the slain woman, found the two dead when he arrived home last night. He then called 9-1-1.

Last night, DPS Trooper Erik Burse said, “The investigation is being conducted by the Texas Rangers, the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, and the Walker County District Attorney’s Office.” Officer Burse would not confirm if the current investigation resulted in a suspect. No one had been arrested in connection with the slaying last night as of nine. He would also not discuss if there were any leads.

The investigation continues. We will pass along any updates to you, as we receive them.
