HOT DISH: Reba McEntire Calls

I’m back! After being under the weather for a few weeks, I’ve returned with a new CMT
Hot Dish
column.

Thanks to CMT, where all my friends work and play! You know who you are: Brian Philips, Lewis
Bogach, Jimmy Corn, Shane Caldwell, Chet Flippo, Martin Clayton, Tracy Todd and so many more. You all stood by me, and I’ll
never forget it. God bless you all. I’m glad to be well.

What a wonderful surprise came when superstar Reba
McEntire
called me! She had been hanging out with Shane, my longtime producer, so she decided to call to check on me.

Reba’s
honesty and hard work have been the key to her No. 1 singles, album sales and success in TV, movies and Broadway. You can
always count on Reba to be dressed the best and have the most beautiful hair and makeup. Reba is big time in the TV world
again with Malibu Country, so tune in to watch the top redhead. A Nashville native, Justin Prentice plays the role
of Reba’s son on the show and does a wonderful job as Cash.

While I was recuperating, the world of country music mourned
the death of Mindy McCready. Through no fault of the country community,
McCready followed the journey of someone who apparently wasn’t destined to fulfill her elusive dream. I wish her two sons
a love that is everlasting.

Looking for a new house? I see where Rascal
Flatts
member Jay DeMarcus and his beautiful wife Allison have put their home on the market, and so have bandmate Joe
Don Rooney and his lovely bride Tiffany Fallon. Joe Don and Tiffany’s magnificent home prides itself with an elevator and
a waterfall by the pool. Can you believe that? Ms. Fallon, a former Playboy playmate, didn’t get those pretty legs
from using an elevator.

Everybody’s friend and all-around good guy Opry Dan Rogers was off to London to see the queen.
No, not really. He went there with his hi’s and howdy’s to all of London where he’s greeting country fans with some fine Opry
news and invitations to visit us in Music City. This past weekend, Grand Ole Opry stars Carrie
Underwood
, Vince Gill and Darius
Rucker
were in London for the Country 2 Country Festival at the O2 Arena. Other performers included Tim
McGraw
, Little Big Town, LeAnn
Rimes
, Brantley Gilbert and Sugarland‘s
Kristian Bush.

Condolences to the family and friends of Grand Ole Opry star Jack
Greene
, who passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday night (March 14) at his Nashville home. The 83-year-old singer
had battled Alzheimer’s disease for several years. A former member of Ernest
Tubb
‘s Texas Troubadours band, Greene made history at the inaugural CMA Awards in 1967 when he became the first winner
of the male vocalist of the year award. The same year, he also captured the first CMA single of the year award with “There
Goes My Everything.”
