OFFSTAGE: A Modern Family Twist on Taylor Swift’s “Trouble”

Published on January 25, 2013 by CMT News

Taylor Swift
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and
out of the spotlight.)

Now even Alex Dunphy wants to be a country singer? I can see why, I guess. It’s not the
Dunphy character, per se, but the real Ariel Winter doing an excellent job singing
Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble”
right there in her living room, with just a sideman playing guitar. Winter is
only 14, and she sounds it, which is perfect for this kind of twisted little song. And maybe she’s not even thinking of going
country. But I do know she has a passion for singing because she has already released a couple of songs on iTunes — “Fallen”
and “Banished” — back in 2010. And she and her best friend have a band called Wicked Sweet. What I’d love to see next is
Winter’s genius, good girl Dunphy work Swift into a Modern Family storyline.
