OFFSTAGE: Is There Anybody Brad Paisley Can’t Sing With?

Brad Paisley
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and
out of the spotlight.)

I tend to think of duets as sometimes great, sometimes mediocre. It just depends on what
kind of talent you’re getting. But after watching Brad Paisley perform with so many singers
at Sunday’s (April 7) ACM Fan Jam in Las Vegas, I can say that his collaborations are exceptional. Especially the live ones
that are packed with such spontaneous excitement and genuine talent that that it would be impossible to not feel 100 percent
entertained.

The Fan Jam event was a live remote going on at the Orleans Arena during the ACM
Awards
. And then afterwards, it turned into what Paisley called “officially the first stop of the Beat This Summer tour,”
adding that he needed to make up for being off the road for four months.

One of the coolest duets of the night came
early on, when John Mayer joined Paisley for his latest single “Beat
This Summer.” Later, when he brought Dierks Bentley out onstage, Paisley explained
that what country is better at than anyone else is making a party out of nothing. So the two sang together on Paisley’s new
“Outstanding in Our Field.” A few songs later, Paisley just kind of quietly asked the fans packed into the sold-out arena,
“Let’s rekindle the romance, shall we?” And Carrie Underwood walked onstage, looking
thrilled to be there to sing a very powerful “Remind Me” with her
pal. Afterwards, he just smiled and said, “You glad you stayed?” Even Sheryl Crow made
an appearance at the after-hours show to breathe new life into Don Henley’s “The Boys of Summer” with Paisley.
