OFFSTAGE: Keith Urban Picks 12 Inspiring Songs of 2012

Published on January 03, 2013 by CMT News

Keith Urban
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and
out of the spotlight.)

This is how you know Keith Urban‘s
going to be a genuinely good judge on American Idol: He really, really loves music. He’s not just an industry insider,
or a guy who is more into the business of the music business. He continues to be inspired by songs, and not just country ones.

Urban recently posted his list of “the 12
songs that lodged in my head and inspired me this year!!”
He added that, “I thought I’d attempt to single out some songs
that I really loved this year for all kinds of reasons,” and that it would be impossible to narrow it down to 12 without leaving
out equally great songs for 2012.

I have to agree with him on “Dirt
Road Anthem”
and “Pontoon.” And there are a few on this list
I’ve never heard of, but I’ll be downloading them today. That, I think, is the power of Keith Urban. If he loves a song, I
know I’ll love that song.

“Springsteen” (Eric
Church
)
“Somebody That I Used To Know” (Goyte)
“Dirt Road Anthem” (Jason
Aldean
)
“Pontoon” (Little Big Town)
“Wide Awake” (Katy
Perry)
“I Love It” (Icona Pop)
“Fastest Girl in
Town”
(Miranda Lambert)
“Cruise”
(Florida Georgia Line)
“I
Knew You Were Trouble”
(Taylor Swift)
“Titanium (David Guetta
featuring Sia)
“Doom and Gloom” (Rolling Stones)
“Brother” (Matt Corby)
