OFFSTAGE: Luke Bryan on Tackle Box Envy

Published on February 25, 2013 by CMT News

Luke Bryan
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that’s happening with country music artists behind the scenes and
out of the spotlight.)

I already liked Luke Bryan for his
“Tackle Box.” It was a song on his 2007 debut album, I’ll Stay Me, that he wrote about going fishing as a little boy
and how his late grandpa would open up about life every time he opened up his tackle box. He’d tell stories about nickel Cokes,
girls, sandlot glories, pickup trucks and moonshine. You get the idea. And now that Bryan has partnered with the Cabela’s
sporting goods chain, he thinks one of the perks is things like getting the tackle boxes before anyone else. “To be able to
call a guy and go, ‘Hey man, I just saw the new Cabela’s tackle box,’ and three of them show up at your door. Do you realize
how jealous all my buddies are? They are like, ‘Luke, you have died and gone to heaven.’ I truly have died and gone to heaven
with this partnership,” he told CMT Radio. I just hope it inspires another fishing song.
