OFFSTAGE: Luke Bryan’s Pre-ACM Awards Therapy

A bow and arrow as therapy? I know, it may sound crazy, but that’s what Academy of Country Music
Awards co-host Luke Bryan told me Saturday (April 6) at an archery event
during the ACM Experience expo in Las Vegas. “It’s very therapeutic,” he said. “There’s nothing better than going out and
shooting your bow and arrow out on the farm.” And even though he has mastered the art of frat rock/spring break songs, in
his heart, he’s still a farm boy. “I will always have rural stuff on my albums,” he said. “If I’m almost done cutting an album
and we don’t have a song that speaks to the heartland? I mean, I just would never record an album without that aspect. When
you look at the outdoors and the ruralness of how I was brought up, I wouldn’t be being true to myself.” In addition to hosting
Sunday night’s ACM Awards with Blake Shelton, Bryan will be performing his new single. After that, he may have a new song
to record. He told me he just found his next rural song — and it’s called “Shut It Down.”
