Exact Name Match Not Required for Voting with Photo ID

Published on October 30, 2013 by Larry Crippen

Texas Secretary of State John Steen reminds voters that when voting in person they will need to present a photo ID, but it is not necessary for the name on the ID and the name on the registration to match exactly.

Secretary Steen said, “As long as the names are substantially similar, all a voter will have to do is initial to affirm he or she is the same person who is registered.”

Early voting is currently taking place for the November 5th election at the Walker County Annex on Sam Houston Avenue.
