Tuesday, Walker County Emergency Management and representatives from the Houston-Galveston Area Council held a Walker County Community Planning meeting at the Walker County Storm Shelter for their criminal justice plan.
The meeting was emceed by Walker County Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator David Anderson. Those participating in the focal group discussions were from various areas of law enforcement, justice, victim services, education, medical, faith-based groups, and other areas of community concern.
HGAC’s Public Safety Program Planner Larry Smith filled local participants in on what they needed to do . . . .
Any data backup to recommendations needed to be adequately referenced. HGAC’s Jim Mahood said there is a trend lately for more funding to go to victim’s services as opposed to prevention.
The final plan goes to the Governor’s Office, and certain issues may be considered for grant help in the future.
