“Great Muddy Escape” Planned

Published on October 03, 2013 by Larry Crippen

The Great Muddy Escape, held every October in Huntsville, has something for everyone. For the extreme adventurer, there are the culverts, the mud pits, and the wall. The Great Muddy Escape is a fun-run for charitable causes and will be held on Saturday, October 26th.  For fitness buffs, there’s the challenge of a 5K mud-run through obstacles while being timed. For families, there’s the family course, where the obstacles are smaller.

The run involves a dozen or so obstacles including mud pits, the “Shawshank Tunnel,” and the “Penitentiary Wall.”  Participants receive a Great Muddy Escape t-shirt, chilled bottled water, a finisher medal, live music, local coupons, and other “contraband” for use in Huntsville.

The event raises funds for charitable organizations, the YMCA and the Huntsville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and raises awareness of fitness and exercise. “

Those who wish to register for the Great Muddy Escape can do so online at www.thegreatmuddyescape.com.
