“Great Muddy Escape” Tomorrow

Published on October 25, 2013 by Larry Crippen

The Great Muddy Escape is a fun-run for charitable causes and will be held tomorrow at General Sam’s Offroad Park. The run involves a dozen or so obstacles including mud pits, the “Shawshank Tunnel,” and the “Penitentiary Wall.” With three “courses,” each with a different level of difficulty, the event is fun for everyone . Participants receive a Great Muddy Escape t-shirt, chilled bottled water, a finisher medal, and local coupons. Winners will also receive medals, custom made by prison offenders, which are distributed for each course and across six age levels.

The “Great Muddy Escape” is offered by Huntsville Memorial Hospital and the Huntsville YMCA, with help from dozens of other local organizations. The event raises funds for charitable organizations, the YMCA, and the Huntsville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and raises awareness of fitness and exercise.

Those who wish to register for the Great Muddy Escape can do so online at www.thegreatmuddyescape.com. Although packets can be picked up on race day, they will also be available today from 5-7pm at the Texas Prison Museum, where participants will be given a free museum tour.
