Fifty-one-year-old Kimberly McCarthy, scheduled for execution in Huntsville tonight, has been given a reprieve from State District Judge Larry Mitchell.
The lawyers for McCarthy say that the jury that convicted her of murder was selected improperly on the basis of race. The jury was composed of 11 whites and one black.
According to Dallas County District Attorney Shelly Yeatts, McCarthy’s execution date is set for April 3rd.
