Local Tax Preparer Pleads Guilty

Published on September 03, 2013 by Larry Crippen

According to a published report, Cedric Keith Oliphant has pled guilty for falsifying client tax returns after several of his customers noticed discrepencies in their returns.

According to District Attorney David Weeks, Oliphant “either gave his clients less of a refund than what they were supposed to get or kept a refund they did not know they were getting.” During his plea hearing on August 31st, Oliphant admitted he made false deductions for gifts to charity and for unreimbursed business expenses on a client’s tax return.

U-S District Judge Melinda Harmon has set a sentencing date of November 22nd.
