Man Burned in Local Gas Well Explosion

Around 4:15 in the afternoon Tuesday, a 35-year-old contract worker from Pioneer in San Antonio was injured in a gas explosion at a well near FM 247 and Lost Indian Camp Road about 8 miles north of Huntsville.

The victim was flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. The man was last reported to be in stable condition with burns on 20 percent of his body.

According to Walker County Emergency Management, a flash fire was ignited while gas was being bled from the well.
