Walker County Master Gardeners spokesperson Brenda Lichtman talked with Commissioners at their Monday special session seeking support for an HGAC grant for a program in regard to the appropriate management of garden-related solid waste and integrating it into an educational program . . . .
The grant would be in the range of $58 to $62,000. Sixty-two percent of the grant budget would go for a “hoop house” or greenhouse. This new greenhouse would have plenty of area for seating for educational purposes as opposed to the lack of it in their present greenhouse. Outreach programs will run concurrently with the program and beyond it.
Commissioners approved their support for an H-GAC grant for the funds they were seeking.
