Municipal Setting Designation Ordinance Discussed by City Council

Published on May 22, 2013 by Larry Crippen

At Tuesday’s session of the Huntsville City Council, one of the issues given a lot of discussion regarded a  first reading of an ordinance creating a Municipal Setting Designation located near the intersection of Avenue I and South Sam Houston Avenue.

Having a Municipal Setting Designation would allow developers a cheaper and more expedient alternative to current state regulations on cleaning contaminated water and protecting local citizens from exposure to the water.

Modern Geosciences consultant Dr. Kenneth Tramm, who represented a developer, explained the benefit of an MSD ordinance . . . .

MSD5-22-13

If an MSD is eventually approved, any developer of the property would probably have to take care of the contaminated soil and water issues.
