Published on September 26, 2013 by Larry Crippen

Access to several recreation sites in the Sam Houston National Forest will be free to the public on Saturday, September 28th.

Fees at Stubblefield Recreation Area, Double Lake Recreation Area, Cagle Boat Ramp, and Scott’s Ridge Boat Ramp will be waived in celebration of National Public Lands Day.

At Stubblefield, members of the Lone Star Hiking Trail Conservancy will clean and paint buildings, replace fire rings, replace grab bars in restrooms and clean tent pads.  There will be a fire truck on site and booths with information on controlled burning. Activities are from 8 AM to 1 PM Saturday.
