Following a law enforcement chase beginning in Polk County and ending in Walker County, four Huntsville men–Tydrus Mills, Devvin Nickerson, Brison Davidson, and Kenneth Freeman–were arrested and charged with the aggravated robbery of the Onalaska Pawn Shop Friday.
Seventy-year-old pawn shop owner, Richard Baker, was shot twice in the abdomen. Robbery suspect Freeman was shot by Baker before the suspects fled west in their vehicle on Highway 190.
Walker County Sheriff’s Office Captain Tim Whitecotton reports the suspects next turned off onto Joe Novak Road and eventually crashed into a sign on Thompson Road before going into a ditch. Kenneth Freeman was arrested at the scene by Walker County deputies. The other three suspects ran off into the woods, and a second suspect was captured. A DPS helicopter crew found the third suspect. The fourth suspect was arrested near Lake Jackson Estates using TDCJ tracking dogs.
The victim, pawn shop owner Richard Baker, was conscious and talking before being life-flighted to a Houston-area hospital Friday afternoon.
Friday evening, robbery suspect Freeman was being treated at a hospital locally.
The other three suspects were in the Walker County Jail waiting for transport to Polk County.
Law enforcement agencies involved in the apprehension of the four included the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, Huntsville Police Department, DPS, San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Department, SHSU Police, the Texas Rangers, and Walker County Precinct #3 and #4 constable offices.
