Huntsville Police Chief Kevin Lunsford presented an alarm ordinance update at this week’s City Council session.
He said, after software issues were taken care of, they were finally able to go live with the system . . . .
Chief Lunsford also reported, “We’ve sent letters to the false alarm addresses that we’ve been to in the past.” A second round of letters will go out. Obtaining an alarm permit is also featured on the Huntsville Police Department website. All the major alarm companies in town have also been notified. So far they’ve had about 175 permits issued. They’re operating under a grace period until January 1st. Following that, fines can be assessed.
Chief Lunsford was “cautiously optimistic” the alarm system was already cutting down on false alarms.
