Public Works Director Reed Explains Lake Camelia Pipeline Issues to Councilmembers

Published on May 09, 2013 by Larry Crippen

At Tuesday’s session of the Huntsville City Council, Public Works Director Carol Reed said, “Monday afternoon the influent flow, the raw water flow into the N.B. Davidson plant” on Elkin’s Lake south side “began increasing dramatically indicating a pipe failure in that part of the collection system that runs underneath, or adjacent to, Camelia Lake.”

Following testing, Ms Reed said, the “Staff determined that the source of the inflowing lake water was at or near the same location of the May 2012 pipeline failure under Camelia Lake.”

She filled councilmembers in on how they were to proceed . . . .

Ms.Reed said the pipeline work done in 2012 was still under warranty.
