Sam Houston Memorial Museum Plans 150th Death & Funeral Anniversary Event

The Sam Houston Memorial Museum in Huntsville will be honoring the memory of Sam Houston with the 150th Anniversary of Sam Houston’s Death and Funeral July 26th and 27th.

We talked with Museum Historical Interpreter Danielle Brissette about the upcoming event . . . .

On July 26th at 7 PM, there will be a lecture from Historical Commission member Hal Simon on “Death and Dying in the 19th Century” at the Walker Education Center.

On the 27th, from 9 to noon the Steamboat House will be open for guests to tour and pay respects. Between 9 AM and 1:30 PM, special displays from Hal Simon and the National Museum of Funeral History will be featured in the Wigwam Neosoho . From 1:30 to 2:00, there will be a Masonic Funeral in the Main Museum Rotunda, followed by closing remarks at two.

Museum Marketing Coordinator Megan Buro and Historical Interpreter Danielle Brissette will be the guests on “Around Town” this weekend.
