Temporary Lane Closure on I-45

Published on January 16, 2013 by Larry Crippen

On Thursday, January 17th, weather permitting, the Texas Department of Transportation’s contractor will temporarily close the outside main lane of northbound IH 45 from the northbound entrance ramp south of SH 30 to one-quarter mile north of SH 30. This will reduce the northbound traffic of IH 45 to one lane. This closure is temporary, and through traffic will be maintained on the inside lane.

The contractor will also temporarily close the northbound IH 45 entrance ramp south of SH 30. During this closure, northbound IH 45 may be accessed by using the entrance ramp north of SH 30 at Crosstimbers Drive.

These closures will allow TxDOT’s contractor to construct a new IH 45 NB exit ramp located north of SH 30. The outside main lane of northbound IH 45 and northbound entrance ramp will reopen in March of 2013. This work is part of an $8.7 million dollar construction project contracted to Smith & Company out of Conroe.

The completed project will consist of the relocation of exit and entrance ramps and rehabilitation of sections of the Frontage Roads from Ave S to SH 75/FM 1791. The project has an expected completion date in the spring of 2014.
