Texas Equine Incentive Program

Published on November 05, 2013 by Larry Crippen

Horses are a big focus of interest in our part of the state. Texas Ag Commissioner Todd Staples says, “The horse industry has a statewide economic impact of more than $5 billion a year.”

To boost the industry, he says the Texas Department of Agriculture “administers the Texas Equine Incentive” program. Staples says the equine industry funds the program, and says, “The program provides incentives for horse owners to breed, show, and raise their Appaloosas, quarter horses, and paint horses in Texas . . . .”

Staples said, “TDA is currently accepting applications for points earned during the 2012 calendar year by enrolled horses. The deadline to submit an application is November 15th.” For more info, visit texasagriculture.gov.
