Thursday’s Houston Airport Shooting

Published on May 03, 2013 by Larry Crippen

The man who died from gunfire about 1:30 Thursday afternoon near the Terminal B ticket counter at the Bush Intercontinental Airport was 29-year-old Carnell Marcus Moore from Beaumont.

It’s unclear who fired the shot that ended up killing him.

Moore had entered the airport and fired at least once into the ceiling in the terminal’s pre-security departure area. The Homeland Security Investigations agent heard the gunfire and came out of his office to confront Moore, telling him to put his gun down.

Moore refused, so the officer pulled out his weapon as Moore turned toward him. The agent shot once and, apparently at the same moment, Moore shot himself. Moore had recently written about his upcoming death on his Facebook page in the past few days.

An autopsy was scheduled for today.
