Monday, a devastating tornado ripped through a suburb of Oklahoma City wiping out neighborhoods and destroying an elementary school. The death toll has now been revised by the Chief Administrative Officer for the Oklahoma City Medical Examiner, Amy Elliot, as now down to 24 people dead–nine of them children.
Wind speeds for the huge twister were estimated at up to 200 miles per hour. The tornado was estimated to be up to two miles wide at times. Rescue workers continue to search the debris for survivors. A higher death toll is expected.
