Published on May 08, 2013 by Larry Crippen

The City of Huntsville will celebrate Tourism Week through the 12th, and one of the many features of the week will be a special tour in Oakwood Cemetery.

According to Director of Tourism and Cultural Services Kimm Thomas, the tour will be held beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9th. Attendees are encouraged to meet at the front gate of the cemetery located at 9th Street and Avenue I.

Ms. Thomas said, “We want to encourage City residents and out-of-town guests to come out to Oakwood Cemetery for a unique presentation hosted by Lee Murrah with the Walker County Historical Commission.”

The tour is expected to last between 60 and 90 minutes, and RSVPs are requested prior to the tour.

For more information or to RSVP, contact the Statue Visitor Center and Gift Shop at (936) 291-9726.

The Millionth Visitor Sign-up Campaign at the Statue Visitor Center is still in full swing. Kimm Thomas updated councilmembers at last nights council meeting . . . .
