Published on February 18, 2013 by Larry Crippen

A fire at the Old Knights of Columbus Hall on Groesbeck Drive south of downtown Bryan Friday night resulted in the deaths two Bryan firefighters. Two other firefighters were injured.

Lieutenants Eric Wallace and Greg Pickard died as a result of injuries sustained as they fought the blaze. According to Bryan Fire Chief Randy McGregor, Firefighter’s Ricky Mantey and Mitch Moran remained in stable condition Sunday morning.

Wallace, who had a wife and five children, had served nearly 13 years with the Bryan Fire department. Pickard was a 32-year-veteran and is survived by his wife and two children. One of his children is a College Station Firefighter.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

There will be a public memorial service for Firefighters Pickard and Wallace Wednesday, February 20th, at 10:00 a.m. at Central Baptist Church, 1991 Farm to Market Road 158, in College Station.
