Published on June 06, 2013 by Larry Crippen

In an ongoing effort to improve safety and relieve congestion, the Texas Transportation Commission last week approved two construction projects in Walker County. A $3 million project was awarded to Smith and Company to overlay IH 45 from SH 30 to SH 75. This project is anticipated to begin in August and be complete by Spring of 2014

The second project approved for funding by the Texas Transportation Commission was a $10.4 million interchange upgrade project also awarded to Smith and Company. Smith and Company will upgrade the interchange of SH 75 and FM 1791 off of IH 45. This work is anticipated to begin in mid-October and be complete by the Summer of 2015.
