Tuesday morning, the Walker County Local Emergency Planning Committee met to start a process of developing a plan to deal with disasters. Basically, the committee will inform area citizens on what do in case a hazardous materials emergency arises.
The committee, which gets together four times a year, consists of emergency management officials, emergency and law enforcement responders, and media representatives.
The committee can access the hazardous chemical inventory reports filed by Walker County businesses.
The Huntsville Fire Department has a new Haz-Mat analyzer, and the committee was given a demonstration on how it works.
