IN THE NBA, THE SAN ANTONIO SPURS NOW KNOW WHO THEY’LL BE FACING IN THE FINALS. THE MIAMI HEAT WON 99-76 MONDAY IN GAME 7 OF THE EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS. THE SPURS WILL PLAY THE HEAT IN GAME 1 OF THE FINALS ON THURSDAY NIGHT.

A SAD NOTE IN THE NFL, HALL OF FAME DEFENSIVE END DEACON JONES HAS DIED AT THE AGE OF 74. JONES WAS CREDITED WITH TERMING THE WORD “SACK” FOR HOW HE KNOCKED DOWN QUARTERBACKS. HIS BEST YEARS WERE SPENT AS PART OF THE LEGENDARY “FEARSOME 4-SOME” DEFENSIVE LINE FOR THE LOS ANGELES RAMS….ALSO IN THE NFL, HALL-OF-FAME QUARTERBACK JIM KELLY WILL UNDERGO SURGERY FOR CANCER OF THE JAW LATER THIS WEEK. KELLY WAS A STANDOUT FOR THE BUFFALO BILLS AFTER HE BEGAN HIS PRO CAREER FOR THE HOUSTON GAMBLERS OF THE U-S-F-L – HE WAS A PARTICULAR FAN FAVORITE IN THE HUNTSVILLE AREA DURING THE YEARS THE GAMBLERS HELD THEIR PRE-SEASON TRAINING CAMP AT SHSU BACK IN THE EARLY 1980s.

IN MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL, THE HOUSTON ASTROS HAVE WON 6 IN A ROW FOR THE 1ST TIME SINCE 2010. THE ‘STROS COMPLETED A 4-GAME SWEEP OF THE LOS ANGELES ANGELS ON MONDAY WITH A 2-1 VICTORY – GIVING THEM A PERFECT 6-&-0 ROAD TRIP. HOUSTON WILL BE BACK AT HOME TODAY AT 7:10PM AGAINST BALTIMORE….THE TEXAS RANGERS OPEN A SERIES AT BOSTON TODAY WITH A 6:10PM 1ST PITCH.
