IN LOCAL VOLLEYBALL ACTION ON MONDAY, THE ALPHA OMEGA LADY LIONS CAME FROM BEHIND TO DEFEAT THE S.A.T.C.H. LADY MAVERICKS IN 5 GAMES. THE A-O-A TEAM IS NOW 11-&-5 FOR THE SEASON, WITH THE LADY LIONS’ NEXT ACTION SET FOR FRIDAY IN THE LIVING STONES TOURNAMENT IN ALVIN.

THERE’S VOLLEYBALL ON THE SCHEDULE TODAY, WITH THE HUNTSVILLE LADY HORNETS AT MAGNOLIA WEST AT 6PM, AND THE NEW WAVERLY LADY ‘DOGS HOSTING BUFFALO AT 6.

IN TEAM TENNIS TODAY, THE HUNTSVILLE HORNETS & LADY HORNETS WILL TRAVEL TO GRANGERLAND TO FACE CANEY CREEK IN DISTRICT ACTION.

IN OTHER SPORTS…THE SHSU BEARKAT FOOTBALL TEAM REMAINS RANKED NO. 5 IN THE NATION IN THE LATEST SPORTS NETWORK F-C-S POLL. THE KATS WILL PUT THEIR RANKING ON THE LINE THIS SATURDAY AT 6PM AGAINST FUTURE SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE FOE INCARNATE WORD AT BOWERS STADIUM.

ALSO, SAM HOUSTON SENIOR LINEBACKER TANNER BROCK, A TRANSFER FROM T-C-U, HAS BEEN NAMED THIS WEEK’S SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR HIS PERFORMANCE IN LAST WEEK’S BEARKAT VICTORY OVER TEXAS SOUTHERN.

AND LASTLY, ANOTHER SHSU STUDENT-ATHLETE HAS BEEN HONORED BY THE CONFERENCE. TRUE FRESHMAN BREANNA HORNER WAS NAMED MONDAY AS THE LEAGUE’S DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK. THE BEARKAT WOMEN’S NEXT ACTION IS SET FOR THURSDAY AT NICHOLLS STATE.
