Abbey Zink Named Dean of College of Arts & Sciences

Abbey Zink, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and professor of English at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, has been appointed the dean of Sam Houston State University’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Zink will assume the leadership of the college beginning June 1st from Gene Young, professor of English and dean of the Elliott T. Bowers Honors College, who has served as interim dean since last summer.

Zink has served as dean for TAMU-K’s College of Arts and Sciences, which comprises 10 academic departments, the National Natural Toxins Research Center and the John E. Conner Museum, since 2012.

During her tenure there, she has overseen the creation of two bachelor’s and three master’s degree programs in criminal justice, physics, criminology, music performance and cultural studies, respectively.
