The Huntsville City Council met in regular session last night at City Hall.
One of the main issues under discussion concerned the Safe Route to Schools sidewalk project.
Councilmember Allen raised issues with current sidewalk construction . . . .
Allen made a motion to stop the project until all the problems were taken care of. The council went into executive session to discuss the matter with City Attorney Leonard Schneider.
When they reconvened, the council rejected Allen’s motion saying the council could not legally halt the project because the City had signed a contract. They agreed, however, that corrections needed to be implemented.
Councilmember Lydia Montgomery said, “We’re all moving forward and making sure this is resolved.”
