Commissioners Move Forward on Subdivision

Published on April 29, 2014 by Larry Crippen

Monday morning, Walker County Commissioners moved a step forward in bringing the Texas Grand Ranch subdivision development to FM 1374.

They approved the variance request to drop going through the machinations of a detailed study in relation to County Flood Plain Management regulations in regard to the development. Planning and Development director Andy Isbell told Commissioners they will have to self-report the variance back to FEMA in approving it, which will bring in FEMA for future inspections.

To avoid any flooding issues, the developer would simply prohibit propety owners from building any structure within 25 feet of the flood plain drainage border in those sections of the devleopment near a flood plain.

Civil Engineer for the project Jeff Brown explained . . . .

Commissioners also approved a variance request regarding lot depths and approved arterial road designations for the future Texas Grand Ranch subdivision.
