Convicted Murderer Robert Campbell Receives Stay of Execution

Published on May 14, 2014 by Larry Crippen

Tuesday, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals granted a stay of execution for Robert Campbell. The stay was based on claims that he is mentally impaired.

Campbell was found guilty of taking the life of Alexandra Rendon in Houston in 1991. The appeals court wants authorities to find out if Campbell’s IQ is too low for him to be executed.

TDCJ’s next execution is scheduled for convicted murderer Manual Vasquez on August 6th.
