Council Considers Safe Room Construction

Among the several agenda issues considered by Huntsville’s City Council last night, awarding a contract for a Construction Manager at Risk for the construction of the Community Safe Room and a lease agreement in regard to it with the Boys and Girls Club were discussed.

Councilmember Allen expressed reservations about not having someone checking on the contractor’s work during the construction phase . . . .

City Manager Matt Benoit explained the reasons for the Construction Manager at Risk approach for the project . . . .

The City Manager, however, had no objections regarding Councilman Allen’s request . . . .

Councilmembers approved awarding the construction contract for a Construction Manager at Risk and the lease to the Boys & Girls Club for the Community Safe Room.
