Hearing Held On Marine Being Held in Mexican Jail

Published on October 02, 2014 by Larry Crippen

Wednesday, a subcommittee of the House Foreign Affairs Committee held a hearing on Mexico’s jailing of U-S Marine Sergeant Andrew Tahmooressi who has been held in a prison in Mexico for over six months on a weapons charge.

His mother, Jill Tahmooressi, passed along to the committee some of the first messages she received from her son in the incident . . . .

One of the many reasons that people testified on the behalf of Sgt. Tahmooressi, including that he shouldn’t be in a Mexican prison in the first place, is that the veteran had just been diagnosed with PTSD.

Well-known talk show host and Lieutenant Commander Montel Williams spoke in strong favor of his release . . . .

During the hearing Florida Representative Ron DeSantis made the strong suggestion of denying Mexico any further foreign aid until the return of Sergeant Tahmooressi.
