At last night’s regular session of the HISD Board of Trustees, boardmembers unanimously approved a compensation plan for 2014-15.
The package provides teachers, counselors, librarians, nurses and special education professional staff with a $1,500 general pay increase. An adjustment will be also be made for individuals within that group with one to four years of experience. The plan accounts for a two percent pay increase from mid-points of the newly adjusted pay scales for all other district employee groups. The new compensation plan will provide targeted market adjustments to those employees identified as significantly below market. The total cost of increase for this plan would be approximately $1.4 million. The plan will be funded via increased revenue due to increased Average Daily Attendance (ADA) and from monies available from the district fund balance.
At last night’s session, in regard to reasons for increased pay, Superintendent Dr. Steve Johnson commented on the compensation issue . . . .
