Hornets Boys Basketball Coach Resigns

Published on February 13, 2014 by Larry Crippen

Monday, Hornets boys basketball coach Larry Carlson turned in his letter of resignation to HISD Superintendent, Dr. Steve Johnson.

Coach Carlson has headed the boys basketball program for six seasons. He will serve out the remainder of his contract through the close of the school year.

Over the years, Carlson achieved a 114-87 record. He led Huntsville to the Class 4A state playoffs five times. He went 7-5 in the postseason and two times advanced to the Region III tournament in Katy.

HISD Superintendent Dr. Steve Johnson commented to the media Tuesday that a recent flap over a quiz had nothing to do with the Coach’s decision to resign.
