Lake Conroe Boating Accident Afternoon Update

Published on July 02, 2014 by Larry Crippen

In a major boating accident Tuesday night on Lake Conroe a 29-year-old woman remained missing this morning, while one woman and a child are dead.

Several others were hurt in the accident. According to Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable Office Lt. Tim Cade, a bass boat and a recreational boat collided Tuesday.

A 30-year-old woman died at the scene, and a 9-year-old boy was taken to the hospital by Life Flight where he passed away Wednesday morning.

Law enforcement investigators say there’s a possibility that one of the boats didn’t have their lights on. No alcohol was found on either boat.

One of the victims from the Bass boat in the crash was Montgomery country music singer/songwriter Josh Ward. Ward was released from the hospital and is home. His wife Heather reports that he has no internal injuries but has a fractured elbow and will have to visit an orthopedic surgeon. Josh has been a guest on KSAM’s Stars of Texas Spotlight program.
