Lake Conroe Boating Accident Update

Published on July 02, 2014 by Larry Crippen

There was a major boating accident on Lake Conroe north of the dam around nine last night. It’s been reported that a 30-year-old woman was killed when two boats hit each other–a pleasure boat and a Skeeter bass boat. This morning another woman remained missing.

Eight other people were injured, including a 10-year-old boy who was in very critical condition and was transported to the hospital by helicopter. A three-year-old girl was also taken to the hospital by air.

Investigators say there is a possibility that one of the boats did not have its lights on.  They do not believe alcohol played a part in the accident.

One of the victims from the bass boat in the crash was Montgomery country music singer/songwriter Josh Ward. Ward was released from the hospital and is home. His wife Heather reports that he has no internal injuries but has a fractured elbow and will have to visit an orthopedic surgeon. Josh has been a guest on KSAM’s Stars of Texas Spotlight program.
