Published on September 25, 2014 by Larry Crippen

Thirty-two-year-old Jesse Leroy Matthew Jr., a suspect in the disappearance of 18-year-old University of Virginia student Hannah Elizabeth Graham, was arrested yesterday in Galveston County.

The sophomore college student, Graham, had not been seen since leaving a party alone on the university’s campus on September 13th and winding up in a bar with Matthew at one in the morning.

Matthew was being sought for “abduction with intent to defile” and a couple counts of reckless driving.

A Galveston County deputy arrested the suspect around 3:30 in the afternoon Wednesday in the small Bolivar Peninsula community of Gilchrist.
