Texas Academic Performance Report Discussed at HISD Board Meeting

At last week’s regular HISD Board of Trustees meeting, Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction Marjetta Spriggs updated everyone on the 2012-13 Texas Academic Performance Report during a public hearing . . . .

The district average of HISD students passing the STAAR test was below the state average.

Ms. Spriggs said, “One of our big things at the beginning of the school year was our ‘Curriculum Cornerstones’ when we put the non-negotiables in place that everyone’s going to teach the right stuff, at the right time, at the right level to our students. And, making sure students are following our ‘Year-at-a-Glance’ in teaching exactly what the kids need to do.” She said she hoped to see a greater improvement in the future because of the program. She had much more to report.

Board member Dr. Karen Williams was pleased with improvements she saw . . . .
