Two Outstanding Citizens Die

Huntsville has lost two outstanding citizens. Thursday morning, retired Lt. Col. M.B. Etheredge died at the age of 98. He was a highly decorated World War II hero, a former member of the Texas House and an educator.

Etheredge’s family will receive visitors Monday, May 19th, from 5:30 to 8 PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, at First Baptist Church.

Well-known educator J.J. Head passed away Wednesday at the age of 83. He worked for the Huntsville Independent School District as a teacher, coach and principal.

Head’s family will receive friends Saturday, May 17th, from 6 to 8 PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be held Sunday, May 18th, at 3 PM at First Baptist Church in Huntsville.
