Data On Unaccompanied Immigrant Children Released

Published on July 25, 2014 by Larry Crippen

In regard to the unaccompanied children crossing the U-S border, data made available by the Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families shows that four states are getting 46 percent of the over 30,000 children who have gone to sponsors this year through early July.

The states are Texas, New York, Florida and California. The kids are put in government shelters and later released to sponsors as they go through deportation proceedings. In a lot of situations, the sponsors are the kid’s parents, relatives or a friend of the family.
