Published on January 27, 2014 by Larry Crippen

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAYS A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING.

FREEZING RAIN, SLEET AND SNOW WILL DEVELOP AROUND COLLEGE STATION EARLY TUESDAY MORNING THEN EXPAND EAST AND SOUTHEASTWARD TOWARD THE HUNTSVILLE AND CONROE AREAS. MODELS CONTINUE TO DIFFER WITH REGARD TO THE AVAILABLE MOISTURE, BUT SOME SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE POSIBLE NORTH OF A BRENAHM TO CONROE TO COLDSPRING LINE. SOUTH OF THIS LINE, FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET WILL DEVELOP DURING THE MID-MORNING AND CONTINUE THROUGH SUNSET. SIGNIFICANT ICING WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THIS AREA PARTICULARLY TUESDAY AFTERNOON.

VERY COLD ROAD SURFACES WILL BE CONDUCIVE TO FREEZING RAIN AND SNOW ACCUMULATIONS. SURFACE ROADS ARE LIKELY TO BE IMPACTED, IN ADDITION TO ELEVATED ROADWAYS. ELEVATED ROADWAYS MAY BE ENTIRELY IMPASSABLE. TRAVEL MAY BE SEVERELY LIMITED.
