5 CANDIDATES FOR THE JOB OF HEAD FOOTBALL COACH AT SHSU WILL VISIT THE CAMPUS TODAY & TUESDAY. THOSE CANDIDATES ARE K.C. KEELER, MEL TJEERSDMA, SCOTT WACHENHEIM, DARRELL WYATT AND MIKE CANALIS. KEELER IS THE FORMER HEAD COACH AT DELAWARE WHERE HE WON THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2003, TJEERSDMA WON A PAIR OF DIVISION 2 NATIONAL TITLES AT NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE, WACHENHEIM IS IN HIS 4TH SEASON AS AN ASSISTANT AT VIRGINIA, WHILE WYATT, IS A FORMER SHSU ASSISTANT AND THE  CO-OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR AT TEXAS, AND CANALIS IS THE OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS. SAM HOUSTON OFFICIALS HOPE TO NAME A NEW COACH LATER THIS WEEK.

ALSO COMING FROM THE NFL THIS MORNING – ESPN IS REPORTING FORMER SHSU QUARTERBACK JOSH McCOWN WILL TEST FREE AGENCY THIS OFFSEASON INSTEAD OF RETIRING AFTER PLAYING THIS PAST SEASON FOR CHICAGO AS A BACKUP TO JAY CUTLER.

IN LOCAL GOLF, THE HUNTSVILLE HORNETS BOYS TEAM WILL COMPETE TODAY IN THE 1ST ROUND OF THE AGGIE CUP TOURNAMENT AT THE TEXAS A&M TRADITIONS COURSE IN COLLEGE STATION.
