THE BASEBALL SEASON ENDED MONDAY FOR THE ALPHA OMEGA LIONS. THE END CAME WITH A 6-5 LOSS TO PASADENA 1ST BAPTIST ACADEMY IN THE 2ND ROUND OF THE TAPPS CLASS 2A PLAYOFFS.

IN COLLEGE BASEBALL, SHSU’S 1ST BASEMAN RYAN O’HEARN HAS BEEN NAMED SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE HITTER OF THE WEEK. O’HEARN HAD A BATTING AVERAGE OF .529 LAST WEEK AS THE KATS EXTENDED THEIR CURRENT WINNING STREAK TO 8 GAMES. WITH 6 SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE REGULAR-SEASON GAMES REMAINING, SAM HOUSTON HAS MOVED UP TO 2ND PLACE IN THE LEAGUE, ONE GAME BEHIND 1ST-PLACE TEXAS A&M-CORPUS CHRIST. THE KATS WILL FACE HOUSTON BAPTIST ON THE ROAD IN A 3-GAME SERIES BEGINNING FRIDAY.

THE SHSU MEN’S GOLF TEAM, WHICH RECENTLY CAPTURED THE SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP, WILL ADVANCE TO THE NCAA REGIONAL ROUND. THE KATS WILL MAKE THEIR 1ST-EVER APPEARANCE IN THE DIVISION ONE REGIONAL WHEN THEY COMPETE IN AUBURN, ALA., MAY 15-17.
