VARIOUS REPORTS FROM SEVERAL MEDIA SOURCES INDICATE THE SHSU FOOTBALL PROGRAM COULD HAVE A NEW HEAD COACH AS EARLY AS SOMETIME LATER TODAY. THE REPORTS INDICATE THE UNIVERSITY COULD MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT TODAY CONCERNING ITS CHOICE TO SUCCEED FORMER COACH WILLIE FRITZ WHO RECENTLY LEFT THE BEARKATS FOR THE TOP JOB AT GEORGIA SOUTHERN. THE REPORTS ALSO INDICATE THE LIKELY CHOICE OF SAM HOUSTON WILL BE FORMER NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE HEAD COACH MEL TJERRSMA, ALTHOUGH THERE HAS BEEN NO CONFIRMATION OF THAT SPECULATION FROM OFFICIALS AT SHSU.

THE HUNTSVILLE HORNET & LADY HORNET WRESTLING TEAMS WILL BE BUSY TODAY AS THEY HOST THE DISTRICT 10-4A CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT AT THE HIGH SCHOOL’S PAUL BOHAN HORNET GYM. ACTION BEGINS THIS MORNING AT 9 O’CLOCK AND SHOULD CONTINUE MOST OF THE DAY.

IN HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL ON TUESDAY, THE HUNTSVILLE LADY HORNETS LOST AT HOME, FALLING TO CANEY CREEK 47-39. NEXT ACTION FOR THE HUNTSVILLE GIRLS IS SET FOR FRIDAY AT MAGNOLIA WEST.
