THINGS DIDN’T GO QUITE AS PLANNED TUESDAY FOR THE HUNTSVILLE HORNET & LADY HORNET SOCCER TEAMS. BOTH SQUADS WERE ELIMINATED FROM THE STATE PLAYOFFS IN THEIR HOME MATCHES AGAINST TOMBALL MEMORIAL. THE HUNTSVILLE BOYS LOST 2-0, WHILE THE GIRLS WERE OUSTED BY THE SCORE OF 3-0.

AFTER FOUR CONSECUTIVE LOSSES, THE SHSU BEARKAT BASEBALL TEAM BROKE OUT OF THE DOLDRUMS IN A BIG WAY ON TUESDAY. THE KATS CAME THROUGH WITH A RESOUNDING 8-1 VICTORY OVER NATIONALLY RANKED TEXAS A&M IN COLLEGE STATION. SHSU WILL BE BACK HOME ON THE DIAMOND AT DON SANDERS STADIUM TODAY WITH A 6:30PM 1ST PITCH IN A NON-CONFERENCE GAME AGAINST McNEESE STATE.

MEANWHILE, THE HUNTSVILLE HORNETS LOST IN BASEBALL ON TUESDAY, FALLING TO WILLIS 2-1 IN 8 INNINGS WHILE THE ALPHA OMEGA LIONS HAD A VICTORY ON TUESDAY, RUNNING PAST MAGNOLIA LEGACY PREP 16-3.

IN SOFTBALL, THE SHSU BEARKAT WOMEN SPLIT A HOME DOUBLEHEADER ON TUESDAY. THE KATS EDGED NATIONALLY RANKED BAYLOR 4-3 IN THE 1ST GAME, BEFORE FALLING TO THE BEARS 12-0 IN THE NIGHTCAP.

MEANWHILE, THE HUNTSVILLE LADY HORNETS POSTED A DISTRICT SOFTBALL VICTORY ON TUESDAY, SLIPPING PAST BRYAN RUDDER 5-4.

THROUGH THE 1ST ROUND OF THE DISTRICT 18-4A GIRLS GOLF TOURNAMENT, THE HUNTSVILLE LADY HORNETS LEAD THE FIELD WITH A TEAM SCORE OF 316. THE FINAL ROUND IS SET FOR TODAY AT HIGH MEADOW RANCH COUNTRY CLUB IN MAGNOLIA.

THE NEW WAVERLY BULLDOGS HAVE A NEW FOOTBALL COACH. JAMES LANE, WHO HAS BEEN SERVING AS INTERIM HEAD COACH & ATHTLETIC DIRECTOR FOR THE DOGS, HAS HAD THE INTERIM TITLE DROPPED, AND WILL SERVE AS THE COACH & A.D. BEGINNING TODAY.
